The brain child of actor Dan Lauria (The Wonder Years, Lombardi), CELEBRITY READS is a collection of short vignettes created and by a star-studded line-up of stage and screen actors who want to remind all of us of the transformative power of live theater, and the important role we all have to play in supporting both theaters and artists so that, when we are able to gather again, live theater will be there to support all of us as we come together to celebrate, laugh, cry, love and imagine together again.
Lauria invited dozens of his friends in the industry to create short videos of themselves reading works they’ve written under the banner “Keeping Live Theatre Alive,” and brought in filmmaker Jeremy Fletcher to edit each individual video, layering in sound, music and images that support the actors words and transport, inspire and move us.
CELEBRITY READS is a fundraiser, yes. The goal is to encourage all of us to remember live theater in our giving. If you can, we hope that you will consider making a donation to Seven Devils. With your help, we will be able to continue developing the new plays that we will all need as we emerge from the many struggles of the past year and come together in theaters all over the country to heal wounds, dream with ambition and step into our collective future.
But CELEBRITY READS is a love letter as well: a love letter to you. If you are reading this right now, chances are you are already a supporter of the arts. We want to thank you for your support - even if you aren’t able to make a donation in this moment, even if these videos inspire you to donate to a different theater or organization. After all, we’re all in this together.
